Account Deletion Policy

Hopme Account Deletion Policy
This policy explains how users can permanently delete their Hopme accounts and what happens to associated data.
1. Deleting Your Account
Users may delete their account directly within the Hopme application.
To delete your account:
- Open Hopme.
- Navigate to Profile.
- Open Edit Profile.
- Select Delete Account.
- Confirm the deletion request.
No email or support request is required for standard deletion.
If deletion fails because your session requires recent sign-in (for security), sign in again and retry, or contact support.
2. Effects of Account Deletion
Once account deletion is confirmed:
- Access to the account is permanently removed.
- Your Firebase Authentication account is deleted where technically possible.
- Your user profile stored in Cloud Firestore is deleted.
- Events you created as organizer are removed from the platform.
- Event participation records may be removed or anonymized on remaining events.
- User preferences and locally cached data on your device may be cleared when you log out or reinstall the application.
- Unused purchased event creation credits are forfeited and are not refundable upon deletion, except where required by applicable law.
- Associated personal information may no longer be recoverable.
This action cannot be undone.
3. Events Created by Deleted Users
When you delete your account, events you organized are deleted from Hopme as part of the deletion process.
If technical or legal requirements prevent immediate removal of certain records, organizer information may be anonymized while event history is preserved only where strictly necessary.
4. Data Retention
Certain information may be retained for a limited period where necessary to:
- Comply with legal obligations
- Prevent fraud
- Resolve disputes
- Enforce agreements
- Maintain security
- Retain payment and accounting records processed by third parties (such as Stripe)
Retained data will only be stored for as long as legally required.
Temporary email verification codes (OTP) are stored in hashed form for a short period and are deleted after verification or expiry.
5. Processing Time
Deletion requests are generally processed immediately when confirmed in the application.
Some backup systems or third-party services may require additional time (up to 30 days) before information is permanently removed from all systems.
6. Re-Registration
After deletion, users may create a new account using the same email address if permitted by system availability and applicable policies.
Deleted account data will not be restored.

Users located within the European Economic Area may have additional rights regarding their personal data.
